Smoothies are great! If you aren’t on the smoothie bandwagon – they taste like milkshakes but you can pack them with nutrition, they are inexpensive and they can be served on the go. We have also featured an amazing relaxing chamomile smoothie.

Calm Chamomile Banana SmoothieA great way to serve them is in a sippy mug (I have a mason jar with a lid and a straw I got on etsy) and drink them on the go or between activities.

  • Use frozen vegetables and fruits and then you don’t have to add ice and water down flavor.
  • Hide healthy fats and vitamins: I always add hemp oil, coconut oil, spirulina and spinach in my smoothie.
  • Keep the frozen ingredients in smoothie packs in your freeze so you can just toss them in your blender, add liquid and some healthy fats for a really quick smoothie on the go!

Here are some great recipes. Remember make them work for you! The best thing about smoothies is that you can customize them.

The Kid-na Colada
1 cup coconut milk (Make sure this is either from a coconut or from a BPA free can. You can also use a whole coconut and this is amazing!)
½ cup coconut water (again check sourcing)
1½ cups frozen pineapple chunks
3-4 cups spinach (You can play around with which greens you want to add — you can even add cholera or spirulina if you really want to kick it up.)
1 tbsp coconut oil
Raw organic honey or stevia (optional)
Pineapple slices and coconut flakes for garnish (This is great for a slumber party.)

Combine the coconut milk and water, then spinach and then frozen pineapple on top. Blend on medium until spinach is starting to puree and then while blender is on, slowly pour in coconut oil. Once added, blend on high. Taste and add ice and honey if desired for a thicker more sweeter shake. Sprinkle coconut flakes on top and a slice of pineapple for garnish.

The Easiest Smoothie you could ever make: Berry Blast Off
